Thoughtful Thursdays – Have you reviewed your sales tools lately?
Previous posts have talked about the importance of practicing. This is most visible in sports where there are few who practice more than the ones at the top of their game, you only need look back to last week at the recent Olympic Games.
While practice is important, it is equally important to practice with the best tools available. You may have the sharpest saw, but as the person in the picture to the left may be realizing, is it the right saw?
Today’s thought is about the tools you use in your profession, sales. When was the last time you looked at your sales tools? Not having the correct tools can lengthen your sales cycle and even be the reason for losing sales to your competition.
- Are your business cards up to date?
- If it is important, are you using the latest software?
- Are your samples fresh?
- Are your brochures current?
- If first impressions are important, is your suit clean? How about your shoes?
- Do your sales scripts address current needs?
- Is your competitive advantage still a competitive advantage?
- How valuable are your value propositions?
- Does the language in your sales presentations work with today’s market place?
You want to operate in a sales environment where you have every advantage possible working in your favour, not against you.
Take the time to open your sales tool kit on a regular basis to review and update the tools you depend on. Your next sale may be depend it.
Good selling,
Richard
