Thoughtful Thursdays – Got the summer sales blues?

Prospects on vacation, plants on maintenance shutdown, no one returning  your calls? Thinking there are no sales activities to perform due to the season?

It is time to change your way of thinking. Your competitors are playing on the same field, do you see them backing off?

If not, then why would you and if yes, seize the opportunity to be where they are not. Business may slow down in the summer, but do the opportunities go away? I think not. If the pie gets smaller you just have to work harder to get your piece.

Not everyone is on vacation at the some time. When business slows down there is often an opportunity to meet with people who may not normally have a lot of time to see you previously. It may be a time where planning takes place and there is no better time to get your ideas on the board then in the planning stage. In my experience, the best time to see a prospect is when they are not busy. That is when you are likely to have their undivided attention.

If you are feeling the summer sales blues, take the time to review your targets and get caught up on all follow up that needs to be done. Reconnect with prospects you may have put on the back burner because opportunities may have moved out.

Good selling,
Richard
