Thoughtful Thursdays – Learn from your sales failures to achieve success
We do not close every sales opportunity that comes our way. Today’s sales thought is about achieving success by building on the failures.
Knowing that not everyone will be our customer and using that fact to our advantage is one way to become successful. The disappointment of not closing a sales opportunity can be followed by a period of lower activity as we get used to the reality of the situation. The reasons for not making the sale are keys to closing your next opportunity.
It is important to know and understand the obstacles that were not overcome and come up with the responses that will knock them down the next time.
Here is a list of common reasons a sales are not closed:
- Fear of changing suppliers
- Forgot to ask for the order
- Poor follow up
- Quality of product
- Approach was too aggressive
Some of these may not be in your control but most are. Take what is in your control and have your responses ready at all times.
Learning from your selling mistakes is a guaranteed way to improve your sales skills and improve your close rates.
