Thoughtful Thursdays – Sales is simple
Sales is simple, not easy.
Logically, a customer will purchase from a supplier who provides what they want, when they want it and for a price that is acceptable. Emotionally the customer will tend to purchase from a supplier they like.
Logically, a supplier will sell to most anyone who wants to buy from them. Emotionally, the supplier will favour selling to a customer who is easy to deal with.
Sales is simple. What makes it hard is the emotional component.
We have discussed the emotional part of sales in previous posts and it is always worth re-visiting. A colleague once commented that the successful sales professionals could also be psychologists.
The soft sales skills develop and improve over a period of time.
- Listen intently to what your customer is saying. Give them your undivided attention.
- Learn from what your customer does not tell you
- Be observant
- Empathize with your customer
Remember that all things being equal people will be inclined to buy from people they like.
Good selling,
Richard
