Thoughtful Thursdays – Do you want to be a better sales person?
People who excel in their field are the ones who work to improve on an ongoing basis. For example no one practices more at improving their skills than the professional athlete at the top of their game.
The sales profession is no different than any other with respect to being at the top of your game. Make a habit of working on the following every day and you will be a better person for it. The benefit is that it you will also be a better sales person.
- Be a better listener. Hear what your customer is saying, learn from what they say and what they do not say. When your customer is speaking, give them your undivided attention.
- Eagerness to help is good, resist the temptation to sell before the customer is ready to buy.
- Become familiar with your customers’ industry. It is in the research.
- Be no one else than yourself. They will see right through you.
- Expand this list.
Remember that all things being equal, people buy from people they like.
