Thoughtful Thursdays – Beware of the creep

It sneaks up on you and left unchecked the result can be like pouring your hard earned money going down the drain.

The dreaded scope creep.

Changes in scope can be successfully managed. It is not okay when you let it change without considering the consequences.

One method to minimize the chances of this occurring is to have absolute clarity of expectations and deliverables with all involved parties before the work begins. In addition the consequences of any changes, no matter how small must be clear.

Spend time up front to define specifications, set parameters and confirm agreement. Clearly outline what will happen should the work begin to fall outside of what was originally agreed to.

You can work with scope creep if it is managed. It can be managed if the ground rules are set up, understood and agreed to in advance.

Good selling,
Richard
