Think about the good meetings you been a part of and what made them good.<\/p>\n<p>I suspect the characteristics will be consistent and will use my own experience as a starting point.<\/p>\n<p>Ingredients for successful meetings:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A good reason for having it\u00a0in the first place<\/li>\n<li>Clear agenda\u00a0with achievable\u00a0timeline<\/li>\n<li>The right participants<\/li>\n<li>Facilitation &#8211; start on time, cover all agenda items, accountable action plan, finish on time<\/li>\n<li>Follow up plan<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Adequate advance\u00a0notice is not on the list. Some of the most productive meetings I have been a part of were called on very short notice. Urgency often\u00a0promotes clear, focused thinking that produces results.<\/p>\n<p>The next time you are planning a meeting take the time to think it through.
