On the other side of the coin I have felt the pain of losing business as a result of overconfidence.<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s sales thought is about&nbsp;staying ahead of&nbsp;your competition.<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few points that, if you&nbsp;make a habit of being&nbsp;mindful of,&nbsp;may help you from underestimating your competition.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Do not rest on your laurels<\/li>\n<li>Be aware of all resources that are available to you and put them in your sales too kit<\/li>\n<li>See more than what is just in front of you (be insightful)<\/li>\n<li>Stay current with your industry trends<\/li>\n<li>Stay current your customer&#8217;s industry trends<\/li>\n<li>If appropriate, stay current with your customer&#8217;s customer industry trends<\/li>\n<li>Visit your customer on a regular basis<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Underestimate your competitor and you risk opening the door. Ignore the signals and you are holding the door wide open for them to walk in and potentially take the business.<\/p>\n<p>Avoid those nasty sales surprises.
