Thoughtful Thursdays – Gold Star for customer service

About two weeks ago I purchased a potted amaryllis arrangement for my mother. It was looking great with two large buds seemingly ready to bloom.

Today’s Thoughtful Thursdays sales post is about a great customer service experience.

The amaryllis is typically an easy to care for plant with multiple blooms per bulb. Long story short, this particular plant decided that it had already bloomed and it was now time to grow foliage and regenerate for the next blooming cycle. The buds wilted and the stalks withered in days. How disappointing this was. On the brighter side, leaf growth was prolific and the amaryllis was healthy and green.

I have made many purchases from this shop and I decided to take the amaryllis back to show them what had happened. I had a very healthy plant that unfortunately declined to flower.

When I arrived at the flower shop, they were quite busy in the back preparing orders. The front person listened to my story and said that they would be happy to replace the bulb in the arrangement if I could come back the next day. I told her that that would not be very convenient and without a moment’s hesitation said that if I would be able to wait about a half hour, they would do it right away. I said that would be fine.

As it turned out, within fifteen minutes I was walking out the door, very pleased with a newly potted amaryllis.

This experience was a example of great customer service. They listened and provided a solution working to their timeline. When the timeline was not acceptable, they adjusted it and ultimately exceeded expectations.

Needless to say, they are a shop that I like and will continue to purchase from in the future. All things being equal, I prefer to buy from people I like, don’t you?
